Our club rooms are located on the first floor of the Walter Reid Arts Complex, on the corner of East and Derby Streets in the centre of Rockhampton. From our large meeting and exhibition area to the projection room and dark room, few clubs in Australia could boast such modern and well equipped facilities.
We actively promote traditional methods of photography such as dark room work, as well as the latest digital equipment and software. In fact we have an increasing number of our members developing and printing their own photographs with great success, both right here in our own club rooms, and on their own photo printers at home. We also have several highly skilled Photoshop users who are more than happy to help you learn to digitally produce your own stunning photographs. The first Friday of each month is our competition night, a range of images from colour slides to large black and white prints are judged by a panel of seven judges. The winners of the digital photographic competition are also discussed on the night. The third Friday of each month we get together for our practical night. On these evenings we run things such as photography courses, lectures, informal discussions, photo critiques, darkroom instructions, hands-on practical sessions and much more. These evenings are educational and informative. Most months of the year we have designated club outings where a photographic trip is organised to a variety of locations. On these days beginners have the opportunity to benefit from the more experienced members of the club through practical advise. Not only are these days beneficial from a photographic point of view they are great social outings which usual end in a gathering for meals and drinks afterwards. If you have an interest in photography we encourage you to come along to one of our evening get togethers and have a chat. We are always keen to welcome new members and are sure you will enjoy the experience.
