Dialing into iRock Solutions with Windows XP
This document gives instructions on dialing into the IRock ISP Solutions using Microsoft's new operating system, Windows XP. NOTE: You must be logged into Windows XP with an account that has administrator privileges in order for you to change or add all of these settings. There are many ways to configure Windows XP, including different "views". In this document, we are using the "category view" for control panel, and the default "Windows XP look" for the start menu.
Creating a IRock ISP Solutions Dial-up Connection
To create a dial-up connection to IRock ISP Solutions, first you must click on the start button, and select control panel.
Next, select "Set up or change your Internet connection".
Next select, "Add" to create a new dialup connection.
You will now be taken to the "Connection Wizard"
Select, "Dial-up to private network".
Next, just simply type in the phone number for the iRock modem pool - 0198331305.
Click "NEXT".
Next, you will want to give the dial-up connection a name.
Type the name: IRock ISP Solutions-dialup
You will now need to configure your dial-up settings and supply your IRock ISP Solutions account username.
Type in your IRock ISP Solutions account username. Click OK.
You should now have a dial-up connection that has the name that you choose (NOTE: your new connection will be set as the default connection, even if you had a previous dial-up connection, to change this, click on the preferred default connection and then click on the "set default" button). If you select "always dial my default connection" then whenever you attempt to connect to the internet, your computer will attempt to connect to your default dial-up connection.
To view your connection, or to manually dial into IRock ISP Solutions, click on START--> "connect to" and you will see a "IRock ISP Solutions Dial-up" entry. Double Click this icon and type in your username and password, then click on"Connect".
